WhatsApp Invoicing UK · 2026

WhatsApp invoicing for UK sole traders — invoice in 60 seconds.

Send branded, HMRC-compliant PDF invoices via WhatsApp directly from your phone. No app to install, no subscription, no laptop required. 1% per paid invoice, capped at £50.

WhatsApp is already where UK customers are talking to you. The tradesperson booking, the freelancer's brief, the driving instructor's lesson schedule — they all live in WhatsApp. Sending the invoice through the same channel removes the gap between job-done and money-in-the-bank.

Wedge is the UK's WhatsApp invoicing tool. Built on Meta's official WhatsApp Business Platform, ICO registered (ZC143076), HMRC-compliant by default, and priced honestly: 1% per paid invoice capped at £50, no subscription, no document cap, no trial.

How WhatsApp invoicing works

Step 1

Message Wedge in plain English

"Invoice Dave Smith £350 for emergency boiler call-out at 14 Acacia Avenue — £180 call-out, £100 labour, £70 for the diverter valve."

Step 2

AI generates the invoice

Wedge parses the message, breaks out labour and materials, applies CIS or VAT, prints your qualifications, generates a branded PDF in under 30 seconds.

Step 3

Customer pays, money lands in your bank

Invoice goes to the customer on WhatsApp with a Stripe link and your bank details. Payments land directly in your account via Stripe Connect.

Frequently asked

Can I really send invoices via WhatsApp in the UK?
Yes. Wedge runs entirely on WhatsApp Business Platform — the official Meta product. Send a plain-English message describing the job and the customer; Wedge generates an HMRC-compliant branded PDF invoice and delivers it via WhatsApp to the customer in under 60 seconds. The invoice includes a Stripe card payment link, your bank details, and your trade qualifications.
Is WhatsApp invoicing HMRC-compliant?
The invoice itself has to meet HMRC's requirements (sequential numbering, supplier and customer details, dates, VAT breakdown if registered, payment terms) — Wedge generates compliant invoices by default. The delivery channel (WhatsApp, email, paper) doesn't matter to HMRC; what matters is the content of the document and the digital record kept against it. Wedge stores every invoice as a digital record from the moment it's created, which also satisfies MTD for Income Tax record-keeping requirements.
How does Wedge cost compare to traditional invoicing software in the UK?
Most UK invoicing tools charge a monthly subscription regardless of how many invoices you send. QuickBooks runs £8-£75/month, Xero £16-£47/month, Tradify £34/month, FreeAgent £19-£33/month. Wedge has no subscription — we charge 1% per paid invoice, capped at £50 per invoice. On a £350 invoice we take £3.50; on a £20,000 staged invoice we take £50. If a customer never pays, we never charge you.
Do my customers need WhatsApp installed to receive an invoice?
Yes — your customers receive the invoice via WhatsApp message, so they need WhatsApp on their phone (which 95% of UK adults already have). The PDF is attached to the WhatsApp message, and the Stripe payment link is included as a tappable button. If a customer specifically needs email instead, you can send the invoice via email from the Wedge dashboard.
Can WhatsApp invoicing handle CIS, VAT, and trade qualifications?
Yes. CIS deductions are calculated on labour only (never materials) when you flag a job as CIS in your WhatsApp message. VAT is calculated automatically per line item with mixed-rate support (standard 20%, reduced 5%, zero-rated, reverse-charge for B2B construction). Trade registration numbers — Gas Safe, NICEIC, NAPIT, ELECSA, ECA, SELECT, Part P — print automatically in the footer of every invoice once you set yours at sign-up.
Which UK trades use WhatsApp invoicing?
Plumbers, electricians, gas engineers, builders, decorators, tilers, joiners, handymen, driving instructors, and other self-employed UK sole traders. Trade-specific landing pages with industry-tailored FAQs, scenario walkthroughs, and qualification badges are live on getwedge.co.uk for each.
Is Wedge ICO registered for UK GDPR?
Yes. Wedge AI Ltd is on the ICO public register, reference ZC143076. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256), stored in UK and EU data centres. One-click data export and soft delete with 30-day recovery are built in. UK GDPR by default, not as an afterthought.
