Building now (next 4–6 weeks)

Each item has a target month. Nothing here is hypothetical.

  • Pay by Bank — no chargebacks, lower fees

Customers pay direct from their banking app via Open Banking. Roughly half the processor fee of cards, and the saving lands in the tradesperson's account, not Wedge's. Most importantly: bank-pay invoices can't be charged back.

On the roadmap (3–6 months)

Real intent, no firm dates.

  • Job photos attached to invoices

Take 3–10 site photos in WhatsApp; they appear as an attached gallery on the invoice PDF.

  • Job site reports

Per-job profitability: invoices on the job + expenses tagged to the job + hours = margin.

  • Annual tax summary

Roll up the bi-monthly VAT reports into a year-end P&L for self-assessment season.

  • Letter before action

After 3 months unpaid + max reminders reached, generate a formal LBA PDF you can WhatsApp or post.

  • Apple Pay & Google Pay on the customer's payment page

  • Accountant export

One-click CSV of all invoices + expenses for the tax year.

  • Companies House pre-fill

Start typing your business name, we pull the official record.

  • Referral engine

Each user gets a link; successful sign-ups award credit.

6+ months out — bigger bets

Where we want to take Wedge after the next two quarters.

  • MTD VAT direct submission

OAuth into HMRC's Making Tax Digital, submit returns directly from Wedge.

  • Xero sync

Two-way: paid invoices flow into Xero as sales receipts; expenses sync as bills.

  • QuickBooks sync

Same shape, lower priority (smaller UK install base than Xero).

  • Multi-user / team accounts

Larger trades businesses with an admin + 2–3 engineers in the field. Real schema refactor (team_id, role-based access).

  • White-label customer payment page

Tradesperson's logo, brand colour, and T&Cs on the Stripe checkout page.

  • WhatsApp customer-facing helpdesk

Customers can reply asking about scope, payment, etc. — AI handles tier-1, escalates to the tradesperson.

Considering

Tell us what you'd actually use. We read every email.

  • SMS as a magic-link fallback
  • Apple Wallet / Google Wallet receipts for customers
  • Subcontractor management for trades that hire help
  • Insurance certificate uploads / renewal reminders
  • Direct integration with a UK trade body (Gas Safe, NICEIC, Building Control)

What we shipped recently
